Brief to develop Katherine Regional Arts Inc 3-year Business Plan

Background

Katherine Regional Arts (KRA) Inc is now 13 years old and is just about to come to the end of it most recent (and first) 3 year Business Plan.

We would now like to engage the services of a consultant to work with the Board, staff, and members to develop KRA’s next 3 year Business Plan and invite Expressions of Interest in the form of a project proposal and quote to be presented to the KRA Board for consideration.

It is a time of great change in the Katherine Arts scene.  In Katherine, the demographic make-up of the town is changing.  A new Cultural Precinct is being built and KRA has an MOU with the new Godinymayin Yijard Arts and Culture Centre (GYRACC) Board of Management.  Regionally, the new Shires have a significant role to play in the promotion and business of arts and culture, and KRA would like to work effectively with them to progress mutual goals.

The Business Plan should take into account the aims and objectives of the organisation, known and potential funding and resources, the changing context of the arts in Katherine and the wider region, and – most importantly -community needs.  It should also be consistent with the broader national and NT arts policies.  As a result it will be especially important for the business plan consultant to consult with external stakeholders, for example Godinymayin Yijard Arts and Culture Centre (GYRACC) Cultural Precinct, Katherine Town Council, Roper Gulf and Vic Daly Shires, Artback Touring and similar.

We are aiming to achieve a plain language, easy to use working document to clearly guide and communicate activity over the next 3 years, and it will be important for the plan to reflect not only the opportunities, but also the constraints in which KRA operates including its accountability and compliance obligations.  It is anticipated that work on the plan will take place in early 2012 and will take approximately four weeks to complete.  Timeframes are negotiable.

We invite the consultant to present a proposal in their own way and incorporating their own suggestions, but overleaf is an indicative outline of activity we would like to see undertaken.
